Kailh Box Mute Jade Switch Review : r/MechanicalKeyboards Kailh Box Mute Jade Switch Review : r/MechanicalKeyboards

I received both BOX Jades and Navies so naturally the first thing that I did was open up the bags and test them out individually, comparing them to their counterparts the BOX White and Pale Blues. The first thing I noticed was that the Navies had a much more cushioned feel to them and the Jades had a more pronounced tactile bump (I would attribute this to the differences in the spring weights as generally speaking a lighter spring allows the bump to be more pronounced). For the statistics, without amplification and using the recording microphone my voice peaked at -10.508 dB while my typing peaked at -36.793 dB, without RNNoise enabled. With RNNoise enabled the peak was -16.356 dB and the typing was -36.793 dB. With the contrast tool, without RNNoise enabled my voice was at -36.85 RMS dB and my typing at -53.07 RMS dB for a difference of 16.22 RMS dB. With RNNoise enabled, my voice was at -42.92 RMS dB, my typing at -78.58 RMS dB, for a difference of 35.65 RMS dB, which is huge. Decibels are a logarithmic unit, not a linear one, so the actual difference here is far more than half. I do not think this is the norm though with this switch but just a bad combination of things, but I must put it here to detail everything that happened (you know, science). And because of this I would personally recommend a harder (or less universal) plate when building with these switches. I did fix the problem without much hassle and ended up putting a Navy there just for safety. IP stands for Ingress Protection, with the IP rating number being split into 2 digits, with the first digit representing the solid protection and the second digit the liquid protection.I liked them both, but I bought enough Jades to cover a board so those were going to be the ones I tried first. So, how do you choose the right Kailh Box Jade switch? It all depends on what you’re looking for in a keyboard switch. Kailh Box Jade Switches are a newer switch type than Cherry MX Blues. They are considered a mechanical switch, but they are a bit different than other mechanical switches. Kailh Box Jade Switches have a square housing, whereas most other mechanical switches have a cylindrical housing.

I prefer the Kailh Box switches over the Pro switches for typing feel and response. Kailh Speed CopperBefore wrapping this up I want to talk about the stem and housing wobble, though there is none in the latter case. Of the three spare Box Jades I have, none of them exhibit any wobble between the top and bottom housing. By the way, the means by which the top and bottom housing snap together is also different between at least some Kailh switches and the traditional Cherry design. Activation - measured in mm and represents the distance the key switch needs to travel before it is activated. Too little can result in keys being incorrectly activated if you are a fast typist and too high can make typing speeds slower as you need to depress each key further. Note that there is always a tolerance of around 0.6mm in these values. Some switches designed for gamers offered a reduced activation resulting in a faster response time. This makes them ideal for gaming or typing in silence. Linear switches are smooth and silent, making them perfect for gaming.
